Because the alternative is asking people to hand over their phone number to find out a price, and then negotiating from a position where they have already invested time. We would rather you saw the numbers, decided we were reasonable, and called because you wanted to.

The hourly rate multiplied by the hours, plus the travel band. That is the whole formula and there is nothing else. We do not add fuel levies, tolls, equipment hire, stair fees you were not told about, or a "heavy item" charge on the day.

Time getting the truck and crew from our Merrylands depot to you and back into service afterwards. It is measured on the further of your two addresses, billed in half-hour steps at your crew rate, and it appears as its own line on your quote. Under 40 minutes is half an hour; from 40 minutes it starts at one hour and increases by half an hour for each further 30 minutes of drive time.

No weekend surcharge on residential or office moves — Saturday and Sunday are the same rates as a Tuesday. Public holidays are quoted case by case because crew availability is genuinely limited, and we will tell you the figure before you book rather than surprising you.

On completion, once everything is unloaded and you are satisfied. Card, bank transfer or cash. No deposit is required to get a quote or to hold a date, though for large interstate jobs we may ask for one — and if we do, we will say so upfront.

If the overrun is ours — a slow crew, a truck problem — you pay the quoted figure. If the inventory on the day is materially larger than what you declared, or the access is nothing like what was described, we stop, explain, and agree the revision with you before continuing. You will never find out about a change by reading the invoice.
